ABC, CNN e National Geographic tra i principali vincitori ai News Emmys 2024

CNN, ABC e National Geographic sono tra i principali vincitori della prima serata dei News & Documentary Emmy Awards 2024.

ABC World News Tonight with David Muir ha vinto il premio per il miglior programma di notizie in diretta, mentre The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper di CNN ha ottenuto il premio per il miglior programma di notizie registrato. CNN ha inoltre totalizzato nove vittorie aggiuntive, mentre ABC ne ha raccolte altre quattro (ABC News ha ottenuto otto vittorie complessive, inclusi tre premi accreditati a Hulu) e National Geographic ha conquistato cinque vittorie.

Il reportage It’s Bisan From Gaza and I’m Still Alive di AJ+ ha vinto il premio “Outstanding hard news feature story: short form”, nonostante le richieste di revocare la nomination agli Emmy. La giornalista, Bisan Owda, che ha realizzato il servizio, è stata criticata per i suoi legami con un gruppo considerato un’organizzazione terroristica dagli Stati Uniti. Tuttavia, il CEO e presidente di NATAS, Adam Sharp, ha difeso la nomination.

I premi, presentati dalla National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, consegnati mercoledì sera, hanno riconosciuto i vincitori nelle categorie news. I vincitori nelle categorie documentari verranno annunciati durante la cerimonia di giovedì al Palladium Times Square di New York City.

“Coloro che fanno luce su verità scomode, danno voce a chi non ne ha o semplicemente riportano fatti documentati, sono troppo spesso puniti attraverso sforzi di demonizzazione e delegittimazione di tale lavoro essenziale”, ha scritto Sharp in una dichiarazione. “In queste due serate, facciamo l’opposto. Gli Emmy celebrano coloro che affrontano queste difficoltà per portare storie importanti sui nostri schermi e, a loro volta, offrono un grande esempio che ispira la prossima generazione a seguire le loro orme.”

Tra i presentatori della cerimonia di mercoledì figurano Jim Axelrod (CBS News), Nada Bashir (CNN), Jamelle Bouie (The New York Times), Maria Antonieta Collins (Univision), Joe Fryer (NBC News), Amna Nawaz (PBS NewsHour), Rachel Scott (ABC News), Del Walters (Scripps News) e Rand Morrison (produttore esecutivo, CBS Sunday Morning).

Jane Pauley, giornalista, conduttrice e autrice vincitrice di un Emmy, ha ricevuto il Lifetime Achievement Award mercoledì, mentre Alex Gibney, documentarista, regista e produttore vincitore di un Academy Award, riceverà lo stesso onore giovedì.
